Hydrocodone is one of the opioids that is used to treat moderate to severe pain. If the medication is being used for a short-term period under a doctor’s supervision, there will be a low risk of cognitive impairment, sleepiness, dizziness, etc. It usually gets terminated as the person stops taking those, as the hydrocodone gets out of your system fully after some days. But if it is taken for a longer term than there is a high risk of being affected by the medication. If you are above the age of 50 and taking hydrocodone for ongoing treatment, then there is a significant risk that you might face memory impairment and cognitive impairment. It happens as the body gets older, the digestion process takes time to process, due to which the medication also takes time to get neutralized in your body.

But it is still reversible by stopping the medication and taking some other alternatives, such as therapies, etc. That doesn’t mean to suddenly abrupt in between the ongoing course. So take your doctor’s advice about whether to do or not to do.
